Grand rounds have entered the metaverse

Back in June, ophthalmology had a first—the first grand rounds in the field to take place in the metaverse, according to Eric Rosenberg, DO. According to the tech magazine Wired, the term metaverse refers to “how we interact with technology,” and at present, most of the time that technology is virtual reality and/or augmented reality.

Sustaining safe, quality, cost-effective care: A clinical registry study at the Aravind Eye Care System assessing traditional and Western operating room practices

A study conducted at the Madurai regional Aravind Eye Care System (AECS) hospital found that adopting Western OR protocols did not lower endophthalmitis rates following cataract surgery as compared to AECS’s standard protocols.
