Eric Donnenfeld, MD, will give the 2023 Binkhorst Lecture, titled “The Road to Innovation: What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been.” One main point Dr. Donnenfeld wants to emphasize is that the road to innovation is classically defined as standing on the shoulders of giants, but there are people who aren’t necessarily giants who play a significant role in innovation.
William Link, PhD, has been on the innovation side of eyecare for more than 40 years, so it’s only fitting that his topic for the Charles D. Kelman, MD, Innovator’s Lecture will reflect on the history and status of innovation in ophthalmology.
Emmett Carpel, MD, was selected for the 2023 ASCRS Educator Award for his five decades of teaching excellence in the Minnesota Twin Cities area. Dr. Carpel’s commitment to education of future generations began early in his career.
