ASCRS Hall of Fame Inductee: Peter Choyce, BSc, MBBS, MS, FRCS, FRCOphth

Peter Choyce, BSc, MBBS, MS, FRCS, FRCOphth (1919–2001) was a leading surgeon in the U.K. and an early pioneer, innovator, and advocate for intraocular lenses. “Dr. Choyce embodies the maverick spirit that was within the founding DNA of ASCRS. He was principled and fought strongly for the use and development of IOLs,” said Steve Speares, ASCRS Executive Director.

Glaucoma surgeons recently faced a potentially disastrous reimbursement situation when five Medicare Administrative Contractors proposed and finalized limiting coverage of several MIGS procedures. Because of extensive advocacy efforts, it was announced that there would be no change in the coverage at this time.
