ASCRS announced that the 2021 Annual Meeting will be held July 23–27 in Las Vegas, Nevada, moving from the previous location of San Francisco, California. The move to Las Vegas allows ASCRS to have its first meeting in 800+ days in as safe a meeting venue as can be reasonably organized.
ASCRS relies partially on unrestricted educational grant support to bring both live and online CME programs to its membership. Here we explain the grant writing process and how important the ASCRS and industry relationship is to continuing education.
ASCRS began its Grand Rounds in October 2020 as a monthly CME opportunity for members. The Grand Rounds are hosted in partnership with major academic institutions and feature two challenging cases with panel discussions. “In the day and age of refractive cataract surgery, optimizing outcomes is extremely important,” said Kathryn Hatch, MD, as she introduced a webinar hosted by the ASCRS Refractive Surgery Clinical Committee earlier this year. “We have increasing patient expectations, and it’s extremely important that we obtain ideal biometry measurements. To do so, we need to pay specific attention to the ocular surface, especially when treating astigmatism and presbyopia.”
