Eric Donnenfeld, MD, will give the 2023 Binkhorst Lecture, titled “The Road to Innovation: What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been.” One main point Dr. Donnenfeld wants to emphasize is that the road to innovation is classically defined as standing on the shoulders of giants, but there are people who aren’t necessarily giants who play a significant role in innovation.

The Chang-Crandall Humanitarian Award is endowed by a generous gift from David and Victoria Chang to celebrate and honor outstanding humanitarian work with an emphasis on cataract blindness and disability.
Emmett Carpel, MD, was selected for the 2023 ASCRS Educator Award for his five decades of teaching excellence in the Minnesota Twin Cities area. Dr. Carpel’s commitment to education of future generations began early in his career.
