It’s hard to believe that more than 2 years have passed since we were first introduced to the world with COVID-19. We have been through a lot in the past 2 years, and sometimes it seems surreal, but what I do know is that in ophthalmology and medicine, we have never stopped supporting each other and learning from each other.

This issue of EyeWorld is exciting because not only does it showcase some interesting cataract articles, but it also features previews of the 2022 ASCRS Annual Meeting. We will attend this meeting in person in Washington, D.C., not only for the education but also to rekindle old friendships. I know I am personally going to be hugging a lot of people.

The Cataract section of this issue delves into a sensitive topic—how to manage the unhappy patient on so many levels. Whether it is due to unrealistic expectations or due to a refractive surprise, our esteemed colleagues offer tips on how to deal with these issues and perhaps even avoid them entirely. The algorithm from Tal Raviv, MD, is invaluable, as are the pearls from the other ophthalmologists featured in the articles. No one likes an unhappy patient, but unfortunately, we all face this in our careers, and it is good to have an armamentarium of strategies to help quickly handle this and end up with a happier patient.

I will be so delighted to see you all at the ASCRS Annual Meeting. I am looking forward to the laughs, comradery, and learning pearls I always get out of this meeting. Until then, stay safe and enjoy reading.
