These are unusual and challenging times. EyeWorld has made the decision to shift the focus of its April issue to include important information and perspectives on the global coronavirus pandemic, which is having a huge impact on ophthalmology, the medical community as a whole, and the world at large. We have solicited comments from ASCRS leadership, EyeWorld section editors, and other experts in the field. We also want to provide information, as we can, on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the ASCRS Annual Meeting, guidance for physicians at this time, and how ophthalmology practices are being impacted and reacting to this very difficult scenario. We would like to still share with you some clinical content, although in a more limited capacity than what you usually expect from EyeWorld. It’s important to acknowledge and address the hardship this pandemic is causing to our medical specialty, our staffs, and our patients while still pressing forward with clinical articles relevant to anterior segment surgeons who will return to normal clinical and surgical practice sometime in the future. For now, we strongly recommend you stay home as much as possible and self-isolate while continuing to care for the emergent cases that depend on our compassion and expertise.
